Assignment #2 (to be done in class on Wednesday, December 2)
Put a line between Assignment #1 and Assignment #2.
Read chapter two.
On your student page ABOVE assignment #1, choose one of the following: suspense or foreshadowing.
Find four examples of suspense OR foreshadowing in chapter two.
Write the exact wording from the book - that means type the sentences exactly as they are written.
In a well-written paragraph, explain why these sentences clearly show either suspense or foreshadowing.
Four examples of foreshadowing in the book is the poem on page 31. An example is when the poem says 10 little Indian boys went out to dine. There are eight people going to Indian island and with the hostess that equals ten people. When The poem says eight little Indian boys travelling to Devon. When they get to Indian island there are eight people there and eight people got a letter. When the poem says seven little Indian boys chopping up sticks; One chopped himself in halves and then there were six. It could be talking about when someone gets killed. Also when the poem says Three little Indian boys walking in the zoo; A big bear hugged one and then there were two. That could be talking about when a animal from the island kills someone.
how does a mystery novel differ from a narrative?
how might the title be a clue to the story?
A mystery novel is different from a narrative because narrative are straight stories without any false clue. Also narrative stories are narrated by the main characters. In mystery stories the main character does not know everything that is going on or dosen't know all the character. Also, In mystery stories the climax is farther towards the end when a narrative stories climax is more in the middle. Finally mystery stories have much more suspense than a narrative and there are more crimes in a mystery.
The title can be a clue in a mystery story like in this story. I think a murder will happen because It says then there were none.
Anthony-
You have some really good ideas. I especially like your reference to the fact that mystery stories have more suspense than narratives.
Now, you have lots of cleaning up to do in order to make one solid paragraph for each question. No run-on sentences are allowed, all words have to be spelled correctly, correct punctuation is a must, etc. See me if you want help.
